Poisoning the Well: Pastor Steven Anderson’s “Christian” Response to the Orlando Massacre
Poisoning the Well Episode 19: The “Blame the Victims” Cringe Special. The deadliest mass shooting in United States history took place in the early hours of last Sunday in Orlando, Florida. Within hours, Pastor Steven L. Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona posted his response to YouTube. His message, which he claims is the proper Christian response to this tragedy, is one we think that people should hear. Not just Atheists but Christians as well. Within the first 24 hours of the video being on YouTube, Pastor Anderson’s rant received over 100,000 views and thousands of likes. It was then flagged and removed for hate speech and Pastor Anderson’s channel received a strike. After that, he was non-apologetic.
This is yet another tragedy that is a result of Islamic teachings. Muslims continue to claim that their religion is one of peace but all we see is one horrible act of violence after another. It’s time to stop blaming the victims and point our fingers at the religion that continues to foster and give safe harbor to these extremists.
Trigger Warning: This cringe in this video is strong… And not just because of Pastor Anderson. It is best viewed by peeking thru your fingers and squinting.
We want to express our condolences and offer sympathy to the victims’ families.
